I woke up in the middle of the night to River climbing out of bed, his eyes were open, but they looked glassed over, and he started walking towards the door. He walked out of the room and down the stairs and I realized he was going to walk outside naked. “LIAM, MAX” I yelled, and Max’s door flew open with Liam standing there naked, Max right behind him, “River’s sleep walking, he looks like he’s going outside. “

Liam flashed down stairs and tried to stop him from going farther, “Max grab some clothes, I can’t hold him much longer. Something easy to put on him. Luna get dressed in warm clothes and grab a blanket or two.”

I rushed back into my room and put sweats on then shoes that I didn’t even bother to tie. I grabbed my comforter and another blanket from the chair and rushed to follow River. River walked out the front door and off to the far side of the house barefoot in the snow. He stopped just outside the solarium, and I tried to wrap a comforter around him, but he was too tall for me to get it around all but his chest and lower. Liam and Max raced around the side of the house with shoes, and clothes.

Liam picked River’s feet up one at a time and at least got them into shoes, and Max wrapped a coat around his shoulders and the three of us tried to huddle close to keep River warm. He was speaking a language I had never heard before. I was about to ask Max what was happening, when River came out of whatever trance he was in and swore.

He looked down and realized the three of us were out here with him and we had tried to keep him from freezing. He pulled the jacket on correctly and then holding the blanket up, so he didn’t trip, started walking back to the house. I wanted to ask questions and to know what happened, but he was silent, so I waited until we were back inside again. River shivered, and I wrapped the second blanket around him.

Liam looked at Max and asked, “Shower?”

River’s shivering was getting worse and Max said “Yes.”

I told Liam to start mine, and he popped out then I heard the shower start. Max and I helped River up the stairs and into my bathroom. We stripped River down and then Liam stripped and got in to help River get into the water, so he could warm up slowly. Max and I stripped and got in as well. River’s body was cold to the touch and the water was barely better. I shivered at both but kept my body pressed to River’s to share warmth. Liam turned the temperature of the water up by small increments until the water was hot and River’s shivering had stopped.

Liam turned extra taps on and soon the shower was steamy. River sat down against the wall, I went to sit next to him, but he grabbed me and pulled me into his lap facing him.
